This conviction inspired the creation of John Lander Energy Training Resources and Technology Limited—a platform where ambition meets opportunity.

STRUCTURE OF THE TRAINING

Since this training is designed to bridge the scandalous skills gap between classroom theory and practical industry application, everything (including simulations/demonstrations) will take place right inside the premises of collaborating industries. Participants would initially be drilled on general application of the designed modules (including foundational knowledge), as major components of their hands-on experience-sharing exercises. Rot instruction will be de-emphasised as much as possible, while each participant would be exposed to critical thinking and phased application of what has been learned. At the end of each week, participants would be required to write mandatory tests as an essential part of evaluating what has been learned. Credit units obtained from these weekly tests and other practical modules would form part of the cumulative scoresheet of each participant. Adequate provision would be made for to carry learners along to ensure that no participant is left behind in the learning (training) process. The mode of instruction shall be through multimedia applications and practical sessions on the factory floor to enable participants exhibit the ‘can-do’ spirit in an uninhibited learning environment. The training would be open-ended and highly interactive in a mutually beneficial manner between Instructors and participants. Resource Persons would be chosen from among highly seasoned experts who would handle the various modules to ensure that participants get the very best out of the programme. In line with global best practice, participants would be made to evaluate and score each Resource Person each Saturday for as long as the programme lasts. Resource Persons who score below established benchmarks would immediately be removed from the programme, while top fliers would be further motivated by way of additional incentives. At the end of the training, participants would be industry-ready to operate on oil platforms (rigs) anywhere in the world and have comprehensive knowledge of the complex operational structure of the highly technology-driven oil and gas industry.

Dr. John Lander Ichenwo is a visionary leader with over two decades of expertise spanning academia and the energy industry, Dr. Ichenwo holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Rivers State University, specializing in Well Operations. His distinguished career includes pivotal roles at global energy giants such as Shell, Weatherford, and Baker Hughes, where he advanced drilling technology, safety protocols, and well optimization strategies.

As a seasoned senior lecturer and consultant, Dr. Ichenwo merges theoretical rigor with practical innovation, having mentored future engineers and championed cutting-edge approaches in petroleum engineering.

Driven by a mission to empower communities, he founded the John Lander Energy Institute to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering skills in energy, oil, and gas sectors. His journey, marked by resilience and dedication exemplifies turning challenges into pathways for success, inspiring professionals to unlock their highest potential.
